Greetings from the Mauer Baseball Blog
Hello everyone. This is the first time that I've ever posted to a blog, but I wanted to try to see if I can do a better job keeping everyone informed about what's gong on with the '07 season. As you know, the season is LOOOOOONG, and I am on the road traveling a lot, but I will do my best to try and post as often as I can.
Also, my goal with this blog is to provide baseball tips to young players out there that love the game of baseball the way that I do....So, I've asked my family members to take an active role in this blog too. You may be getting some posts from my Dad (Jake II), my brothers Jake III, and Billy, my cousin Jimbo (President of Quickswing) and even my Mom (Teresa). All of these guys are very knowledgeable about the game of baseball and can give a lot of insight as to what's going on.
I hope everyone has fun with this blog this season and I look forward to hearing everyone's comments. Oh yeah, for everyone out there who cares....my leg is fine. The doctors diagnosed a "stress reaction" in my lower leg and want me to rest it so that it doesn't get worse. I should be ready to play in about 4-5 days.
Thanks, Joe #7

Uhm... I have a hard time believing this is really Joe Mauer. IDK. It seems like you wouldn't exactly start a blog if you had any free time. It's cool if it is though. I just bought a Mauer shirt couple hours ago at Champs. lol. Can't wait till April 15th when you get your Batting Title Ceremony. I am SO there. lol. I got tickets for free at twinsfest. So yeah, well I still have a hard time believing this is you but I thought I'd comment anyways. Bye.

Hey Joe! Great to hear from you! I think your commitment to youth, and to the state of Minnesota is truly admirable! Just wanted to wish you the best of luck on the upcoming season! Take care and God bless!

Congratulations on the new site. It looks like its going to be great. One suggestion is to, if you can, add a forum or something for the fans and maybe get on it and chat with us. Again Congratulations, go Twins!

I've always wanted to inquire why Dave Winfield wasn't in the Quickswing ad. Is it just some sort of CDH Hitter alum deal? ;)

Hey Joe...I am glad to see that you are doing well. That's tremendous. I have to be honest, I don't really follow the Twins, but I always check up to see how you are doing. Anyway, my name is Trevor, and I just wanted to tell you that when we were at St. Columba, you were the only person who was nice to me, and it meant a lot to me. It was hard to adjust to moving here from Germany, and going to a school where everyone knew each other already. I won't forget your kindness, and I wish you all the best. I wish I had some way of sending you a personal email, but you're a big star now, so it's tough. Anyway, thanks. I won't forget you, and good luck in the future. I'd love to talk to you sometime, but like I said, I know you're a bit hard to get ahold of nowadays. Thanks again for being so nice to me when everyone else wasn't. I'll never forget it.

Hello Mauer clan,
My name is Brad James. I'm in Louisiana. I am a former collegiate player (1989-1990). My son is 11 and I just bought him a quickswing. I can see already that it's a great tool. It helped him after the first use. Swing getting shorter but he's still a little long in the back. Think his hands may be too high. Anyway, you guys oughta put out mechanics video. I know I'd buy it. Take care and good luck Joe.

Hi Joe;
I just read the article about you in the Northwest magazine on my way back to Dover, MN(by Rochester) from the masters. I see that you live in Ft Myers during the winter. Every year, right after thanksgiving, myself and 6-8 of my buddies take a golf trip to bonita springs. We rent a house in the spanish wells community on bonita beach road.I know it's a long ways off, but I was just wondering if you would ever consider playing golf with some of your fans while we are down in Fla. We are average golfers, but we cheat good......
Thanks Joe, and best of luck this year!!!!!

I really admire you for starting a blog. It is always great for the fans to hear what is going on straight from the players. (Especially from such a genuine person as yourself.) Oh, and by the way, I think everyone in the entire state of Minnesota cared about your leg. I am pretty sure it was the headline for the evening news that day. Good luck this season!! :)

Hi Joe i am interested in getting involved in the commnuity, supporting charities and such. I noticed on the Twins website you and your family support differnt charities. I was wondering if you knew of a way I could give back to the community or if there is any way I could help out? Im not sure if you have to be part of the Minnesota Twins to help out with those charities or not,I'm actually trying to get an internship with the Twins this fall. Any kind of information would be great.
I hope your leg heals up and you can get back to playing ball soon! Its to bad you cant play for two weeks. Have a good day!

Hey y'all. I just wanted to drop in and say that I really think the quickswing is a great tool. I wish I knew it was around a couple years ago when I was playin high school ball...or even before that when you make the switch from slow-pitch to fast. I'm from Texas, so I have to be loyal to my Rangers, but I have to admit, I know a good ball player when I see one...Good luck to Joe, and good luck to the rest of the "Mauer Clan" in all y'all do.
God Bless!

Hey Joe! I think it's really cool that you made a blog for your fans. I love watching the Twins play, and I am a big fan of yours. I was a catcher for fast-pitch softball when I was in high school. Recently Rabe, Tyner, and Cuddyer gave a presentation through budweiser at the bar I waitress at- wish you could have been there (that would have made my night)!!! (I got to wait on the guys and their families & everyone was so nice- especially Tyners wife!) Well I think you are extremely good looking, and a great ball player. Check out the Stadium Sports Bar in White Bear Lake!!! I would love to meet you!

Love ya Joe! Saw you play here in NY against the Yankees (boo!) on July 2, unfortunately you guys didn't win but it was close and you were awesome as always. Have been following every game, tonight (July 21) you did an amazing job hitting a home run and winning 5-2 against the Angels. Keep up the good work. Hope you read this!

Loyal NY fan

And I played at Griggs Until I was 8 years old. And Everyone calls me Mauer on my soft ball team, because my number is 7.I really like the quick swing, It is pretty handy, and my brother has it. I just want you to know that you are considered my role model. You are absoulutly my all time favorite baseball player. I look up to you, you grew up in my neighborhood. I have been to so many twins games, and they have only lost one.Well thanks for reading this, and say hi to justin morneu for me!

Hey Joe,
How is baseball going? I hope that all is going well. I live in North Dakota and I have not been able to come to a Twins game yet this year, but I am hoping to soon. Good Luck in the rest of the season. Maybe you guys will win the division and go to the World Series!! I would be there in a second. I would love to meet you. My sister got a baseball signed by you and she gave it to me for my 18th birthday last year, but that isn't the same as meeting you in person. Have fun of what's left of baseball.
Your #1 FAN

I went to watch the game between the Twins and Mariners and was a little disappointed when I noticed you were not in the line up. What happened, you looked fine when I saw you?
PS, I know you are busy but can you include a section were you answer questions from fans? Like were is a good place to find you in MN

Hey Joe.I am a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR fan of yours. I cant even believe i get to write to you. It's only August and yet I'm SOOOOO excited for twins fest. Although I know i wont get there in the right spot early enough to get an autograph, I want to at least SEE u there. I am a girl, but a HUGE baseball fan. I only get to 1 game a year usually, so I got the HD Baseball package. haha. I'm pretty sure you're just about the calmest baseball player I've ever watched. I think you should come somewhere close for a player appearance. I live in a small town in Wisconsin, by the UP. You should have a contest for the youth to meet you or get autographs or something cool like that. The GreenBay Packers had one and Donald Driver came to our school and it was AMAZING. living in a small town, the kids here would be SO excited if something like that could ever happen...so think about it. haha. BYE, joe. and a reply would be absolutely amazing.

I just wanted to say that you are a good guy and deserve the best in life. Hopefully one day I can meet you! Your looks aren't bad either. :) I hope you get better, and God Bless!
